The words cut her like ice, her uncle hadn't been close, she'd never really met him but she'd never felt a connectiong. Not like Albus anyway. Yet the news still made her heart skip a beat everytime someone said it, mentioned it, indicated it. Artemis refused to speak on the subject, she just about turned before she felt his hands, his head. She was so close to him she could hear his breathing yet she still stood as she was, again as if stuck like stone. Maybe she was pushing him away, well the moment hadn't been quite as she'd imagined it. Actually it was impossible really to have her dreams a reality even with magic it was impossible. "I don't see why you'd want to be here. It's not as if I'm the most perfect person in the world, I dont' deserve you and I just start arguments off between us..."
Sighing lightly she listened to his words and laughed lightly. It was actually quite true, she probably would go and try and murder the person single handed and everyone knew she wasn't exactly the best person in a duel at all. Actually she lost concentration all to easily. "You know me too well of course I would ahve to come after at least one of you!" Her body relaxed lightly and she shrugged gently. Her mind seemed to have been relieved of all that it was and was fixated on some words, trust her at a moment like this have an idea for lyrics. It was her favourite past time just writing songs, poems and anything else she could it was a good way to get rid of her feelings, remind her of them. They where never read by anyone and where kept hidden, locked away from any eyes to see. They would give away too much anyway.

"I think I started this one by leaving."
Romulus said lightly, not releasing her. He bent down and kissed her, feeling her breath feather across his skin lightly. Oh but she didn't know him. THis was the only place he wanted to be, here with this not so perfect girl, arguments and all. He loved her more than anything in this life, didn't she know that already?
Romulus pulled back inches from her lips, breathless from the passion crackling between them now. Theirs was strange, born out of anger half the time and silliness the rest. It was what had always made them special. His hand began to shake as he reached to the chain around his neck, a thin silver thing that bore a special burden. He unclasped it and held it between them. Taking what it held off, he held it up so that she could see it.
"Marry me Artemis-Mai Alcippe. You're perfect enough for me."
The band was simple itself, a thin silver thing. The stones were quite exquisite if he did say so himself. It contained one diamond with an emerald on either side. His hand shook so badly he nearly dropped it, but his eyes never left her.

A soft laugh fell from her lips, his words wern't funny but the fact that they kept going balming themselves it was like an old married couple. "Maybe it was my fault that I met you! Couldn't imagine what my life would have been like if I hadn't shouted at you that day... You'd done nothing wrong and what did I tell you I start arguments!" The past was the best thing she'd had to base her life on, that time was probably the funniest days. She had no clue who Romulus was and something had started her off and so she'd blew up in his face. Who would have thought they would end up still together after all these years, well with the small break in the middle of course. Her hair fell neatly over her shoulders as her head moved swiftly, caught by his lips all the same. Artemis' eyes fluttered gently before closing her turqoise blue eyes to darkness. Yet the darkness was fine it was the darkness that warmed anybody to the bone and somehow made the feel special.
The pressure on her mouth was lifted and she opened her eyes reluctantly a smile tugging at the corners of her mouth but a frown errupting on her face. He looked quite strange in the firelight tugging at his necklace and unlatching it. At first she thought he was simply taking it off because it annoyed him, then she was so confused she could have sat down. She felt like placing her hands around his own to stop the shaking even though she was still trembling herself so it wasn't really going to help was it? A hand flew to her chest before the words had chance to register in her brain and as they did she flug her arms around his neck and softly pushed her lips onto his still smiling gently. "Of course I won't..." Her sarcastic whisper caused her to shake even more perhaps from held back laughter or from realization. She now had a mind to come out with a yes but she'd leave it like that and see if he took her seriously although her tone of voice wasn't exactly that hard to see she was lying wholeheartidly. "I love you Romulus Lupin."

Romulus laughed at the memory. She'd yelled at him for something completely random and he'd just stood their, bewildered. Of course his best friend had picked on him mercilessly for letting the girl get the best of him, but he hadn't cared.
It was confusion that set in with her first and then he started to fear he'd gone out too far on a limb. But then her arms went around his neck and he knew her answer. The sarcasm was just like her. Throwing his head back and laughing, he picked her up and spun her around. Instead of putting her down, he flopped on the couch on his back, her on top of him. Taking her left hand, he slid the ring onto the proper finger and kissed them.
"I love you too Artemis."
He said softly before kissing her again.

Artemis realized that if it had been daytime she'd probably have screamed loud enough for people in Austrailia to hear from excitment. Yet for one thing she'd realized it that their convisation, argument and actions had all been pretty quiet. For some reason she hoped no one had heard, she wanted it secretive so it was a suprize to everyone. It would be quite entertaining to see if anyone noticed anything different about her. Sure thing that Andromache would say "Why are you so happy with the murder and all this crap oh and your job at the ministry?" The ring, it was beautiful, perfection and to think he'd had it on him on the spur of the moment made her laugh on the inside. "How long have you been meaning to ask?" Her thoughts where spoken without any holding back it was something she wanted to know and if she wanted to know she would know.
Her head rested on his chest the motion of the spin had just caught up with her and she needed to keep still to get her mind back together. Artemis slid her hands through his hair gently closing her eyes and leaving her hand draped over his soulders, hands resting on the sides of his head and the back of the couch. "We should see if anyone notices tomorrow. OH! My name won't rhyme anymore thats unfair!" She chuckled lightly listening to the rhythm of his heart, feeling the warmth from the fire at last as if her ice hamber had been broken for good.

"Oh, since I was eighteen or so."
Romulus replied seriously. He was telling the absolute truth. If he hadn't been forced to leave, he would've proposed to her right after she'd gotten out of Hogwarts and they'd have been married not long after. Probably would've had a couple of kids by now. But fate can be cruel and they had the misfortune of being on her bad side.
Romulus scratched her back lazily, enjoying the quiet joy of the moment and knowing that he was hers forever now. Nothing would ever separate them again, he would make sure of that. There was nothing cold about this room anymore, the heat from them had warmed everything up. Romulus knew that he should get up and put her to bed, but right now he was content to just lay there with Artemis in his arms.He chuckled as she spoke, loving her humor.
"Well if it's that much of a problem I'll just take that ring back then."
He teased lightly, making absolutely no move to remove the ring. Rom knew she didn't really care about the name thing...at least, he hoped she didn't. Romulus and Artemis Lupin That had a ring to it. He sighed happily. Now everything was the way it should've been.
"When do you want to get married?"

"Ten years!? You must have been ready to give up sometimes!" Her head lifted gently and her chin stuck to his chest as she watched his face with a light smile painted on her face, it was possibly the most genuine smile she'd had in years that meant something more heavenly. Maybe this was a dream again. She'd got her perfect man back, and was now getting married. The only thing that got her slightly was the fact they could have been together, as a married couple, for years with a small family of their own. Her perfect family with one or two kids and everyone preferably alive, no they had to be alive. So was so used to the dead being relations to her that she'd given up trying to be any different. "I have no idea! Not too soon but soon?" She closed her eyes again breathing in deeply and taking in the feeling of being whole, complete again.
"What about a family? Would you want one or just us two forever...?" Her face twisted lightly and she let her nose twitch gently before stretching upward to kiss him again, tenderly her hands against his chest. She'd almost forgotten what she was wearing, it felt a little strange to think he was perfectly dressed and she was in her pajamas. She must have looked a little strange as she chuckled to herself softly amusing herself with her thoughts and realisations. Mrs Artemis Lupin... Mr and Mrs Lupin. It had some sort of beautiful tone perfection. Completion. Whatever it was it was just what she wanted. To be with her soulmate for all of time until she was, hopefully, old and wrinkly.

"I would never give up on you Artemis."
Romulus said gently, his head resting against the arm rest. He watched her with a tender expression on his face as thoughts raced through her head like wildfire. He could practically see her analyzing everything.
"I was thinking a winter wedding. That way I can throw snowballs at you."
Romulus grinned at the thought of the two of them having a snowball fight on their wedding day. He wouldn't put it past either of them. The smile that was on her face was as beautiful as he'd remembered. His thumb traced her lips gently, then settled on her back as she leant up to kiss him. He deepend the kiss with his tongue and tightened his arms around her.
"Yes I want a family. I love kids and they'd be beautiful considering you're going to be their mother."
His hand slid lazily under her robe and settled against the bare skin of her back, stroking it lightly enough to be ticklish. The difference in their attire was very obvious. He was rumpled looking in his blue robes and she was beautiful in her warm pjs. His knees were starting to cramp up so he turned to his right so that they were both laying on their sides facing each other. He hooked her ankles between his and snuggled close to her, propping himself up on one elbow. Just because she was so irresistable, he kissed her again.
"How many kids?"
Romulus asked, his mouth inches from hers. His left arm lay across her waist, still stroking her back gently. They fit together still, two halves that were meant to be whole. This was how it was supposed to be a long time ago. God he'd missed her. Just the memory ofthose days made him want to bury his head in the crook of her neck and never let her go. He took her hand in his and intertwined their fingers, holding them up so he could see. Romulus's hands were rough where hers were soft, big against small. But they completed each other, fit together as if they'd been cast from matching molds. He kissed her fingers, waiting for her replies.

Artemis lifted her hand to her head and pushed the loose strands of hair behind her ear before letting the ring on her finger shine in the firelight. She admired it whitsfully and smiled gently. His suggestion made her laugh yet it would be beautiful to have a winter wedding, all the white snow and crisp air. Yeah it would be cold but who cared? "Throw snowballs at me? Now that is plain cheek!" She chuckled to herself letting her index finger poke the tip of his nose lightly. Her hands where always quite chill no matter what she was wearing even if gloves where on them. A family was just perfection to add to her own little fairytale. She could imagine just perfectly how she wanted it yet of course her pictured dreams never became a reality and to be honest she couldn't quite care if it was perfect. Well that was a lie secretly in everyone's heart perfection is a large desire but right now she wouldn't mind. "But of course they would have you as a father so that would make them even more special."
Although her pictured thoughts showed her how she'd like it they never actually looked at number. Now and then there where one or two then other times there where three. Being from quite a small family, well now a small family, she'd never really wanted a huge family to start with. "I wouldn't mind really. " His hand agaisnt her back sent a shiver down her spine and she wriggled gently as the tickling sensation reacted. The knowledge that everyone, even Aariane, had told her to give up on Romulus made her heart jump slightly. She'd have to get past the rants of "what if he leaves again" and "can you honestly trust him, I thought you'd let him go". The secret was she lied to everyone saying she'd moved on well this proved that moving on wasn't always the best option yet of course the truth was always looked for.

"Which of course would be totally not like me at all."
Romulus replied with a straight face to her comment about cheek. He watched her admire her ring and chuckled softly, a little picture forming in his mind. White snow covered the ground and their guests were wrapped up in fancy cloaks. The cold made him shiver, but he forgot the chill of the air as Artemis began to float towards him down the aisle and they finally said the vows that should've been made a long time ago.
The spell broke when Artemis spoke again, something about the children being special because of him being their father. He grunted playfully in return and blew warm air against her cheek.
"Then we'll just wing it."
Romulus murmered at her comment about the number of children. He'd never really thought about how many he wanted, but now that he was thinking, two or three sounded nice. Not anywhere near as big as the family his friend Ron Weasley had grown up in. Dear God, seven children...he'd probably lock some up in the basement.
"What's wrong?"
Romulus asked, stroking the silky locks. Artemis had become distant, her thoughts traveling to some place away from him. Was she thinking about what everyone would say? Not doubt he would endure many barbed comments about leaving, but he could bear them as long as he knew he had Artemis. When her family became his, they would know the story of why he had left.

Artemis giggled like a girl again and poked Rom in the chest. "Oh totally..." She rolled her eyes at his comment and flicked her hair over her shoulders the last time she'd done anything big with it was around five years ago. Since then she'd just left it in it's natural state, in the past it was done properly different every day but then again that was the trend in those days in the school. So were stripey socks and trying to get away with high heeled shoes to see who had the highest ones by the end of each term. Although the shoes were not her favourite part of the trends by the end of the terms she was crippled and so happy when she could go back to her flat shoes and stay that way. Hogwarts in the past was an amazing place perhaps they had gone there in the perfect years where all the students had to worry about was the house violence and no dark magic. All the girls spent time to make themselves glamorous and tried to impress with their magic. No it was tight shirts, small skirts and prostitute like seduction.
Yawning lightly, yet trying and failing miserably to conceal it, she settled her head neatly onto him and mumered in an agreement. She couldn't care right now about the future right now was perfect although she'd half brought up the convosation anyway. Her slight worry still stuck on her face even with her eyes half closed in a sleepy sense. It had knocked the energy out of her and her mind seemed at rest. "Just thinking about what they'll all say..."

Romulus chuckled as she poked him and intertwined their fingers, laying his head on the armrest of the couch. It had been an eventful few hours, even more eventful week for him. He loved his job, but somedays he was just ready to throw in the towel and tell the minister to find someone else. Romulus got away with more than he should, but the minister wouldn't fire him. Romulus was valuable to the man and he knew it.
Artemis's words reflected the thoughts in Romulus's mind and he tightened his arms around her as she settled her head on him. They were both fighting sleep by now, but worry was keeping him awake. He kissed her forehead and pulled a blanket over them both to ward off the chill.
"At least you won't get the worst of it. I can only imagine the names they'll call me for leaving."
Romulus grimaced, he was not looking foward to the confrontations. They wouldn't undestand, he knew they wouldn't. Maybe Alice would, if only because she was smart enough to know that he wouldn't have left unless it was absolutely necessary. Romulus heaved a sigh and laid his head back down, resting his chin on her head. So much to work through, to think about.
